What
is imperative for us as human beings to know, understand and believe is the
fact that the source of our natural carnal mind did not originate from God,
remember, from the beginning out of the ground the LORD God made every tree
grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also
in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Then He commanded the man saying; “Of every tree of the garden you may freely
eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for
in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die" (Genesis
2:9, 16-17).
And
so when Satan tempted Eve and said to her, “For God knows that in the day you
eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and
evil." And it is after both Eve and Adam partook of the fruit of the
knowledge of good and evil that the Lord said; “Behold, the man has become like
one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take
also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" ---therefore the LORD
God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was
taken” (Genesis
3:5, 22-23).
Therefore,
man as a natural physical human being has several critical choices to make
because he is naturally not want God intended him to be and so when Jesus came
He said to Nicodemus, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God." He said to him again; “Most assuredly,
I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the
kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be
born again' (John 3:3, 5-7).
Jesus
Christ set the example by being Himself baptized when He came from Galilee to
John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him,
saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?" But
Jesus answered and said to him, "Permit it to be so now, for thus it is
fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed Him. And
when Jesus had been baptized,
He came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to
Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon
Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, "This is My beloved
Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:12-17).
And so in order for man to fulfill God’s ordained purpose he has to make some critical choices because the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that we do not do the things that we wish.
