The benefits in commemorating the Lord's death

It is imperative that we who profess to be believers in Jesus Christ demonstrate our faith with positive action for example:

If we claim to believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior who came to love, heal and forgive us and we are willing to proclaim His death until He comes, I think that we should imitate the example of King David who wrote;

; “Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's” (Psalms 103: 1-5).

And so, I beg to ask the question, why are we so assured and positive that the Lord loves and forgives us but do not express and demonstrate that same level of faith, trust and confidence in the healing power of God?

Especially since we have the ultimatum which states; “that our faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1Corinthians 2:5).

One common mistake which the majority of believers fall victim to is that of associating the wisdom of men with the power of God. For this is what the Lord in no uncertain terms said; “I am the LORD, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images...For My own sake, for My own sake, I will do it; For how should My name be profaned? And I will not give My glory to another” (Isaiah 42:8; 48:11).

The Lord does not share His glory with machines, robots, vaccines and medicinal drugs, healing in real perspective comes as a result of, intercession, repentance, prayer, faith and in God’s word.

A typical example was that of a noble man whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe." The nobleman said to Him, "Sir, come down before my child dies!" Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your son lives." So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, "Your son lives!" Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him." So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives." And he himself believed, and his whole household” (John 4: 46-53).

Now the same power and authority which Jesus Christ used to heal the sick son of the noble man has been administered to the disciples of Jesus Christ because, in in dispatching His disciples Jesus Christ commanded them saying; “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give” (Mathew 10:5-8).

There is no shadow of doubt that Jesus Christ has empowered His disciples with the power to heal the sick for it is clearly stated that; “He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick” (Luke 9:1-2).

The reasons why Jesus Christ the Beloved Son of God took on flesh, experienced life like any other human being, suffered and paid for the wages of sin which is death in man’s stead, left us His flesh to eat and His blood to drink thus commemorating His death until He comes is three-folds.
