Jesus said, I am the
Truth
The question is, how is Jesus Christ the truth that leads us to the Father? The truth by which we
come to the Father is through Jesus Christ the word of God. Jesus said;
“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” Jesus Christ is the word of
God who became flesh and dwelt amongst us, He is now our High Priest over the
house of God, to intercede on our behalf. He is the sweet aroma which fulfills
the will of the Father.
The Lord has ordained
specific times for His people to appear before Him for this is what the Lord
said; “When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand,
to trample My courts? Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense (prayer) is an
abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies
--- I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. Your New Moons and your
appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing
them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though
you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah
1:12-15).
Please let us note
carefully what the Lord is saying, what the Lord is saying to us is:
1.
When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your
hand, to trample My courts?
This signifies that,
we are to appear before the Lord only on days which He has ordained as He
clearly said to Moses; “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: 'The
feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, these are
My feasts” (Leviticus 23:2).
And He went on to
explain to Moses saying; “Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a
Sabbath of solemn rest, a holy convocation. You shall do no work on it; it is
the Sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.” These are the feasts of the
LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times. (Leviticus
23:3-4).
So definitely, there
are specific days and times which the Lord has ordained for people to appear
before Him it is not a day one randomly choose or decides for themselves for
this is what we have been duly admonished saying; “One person esteems one day
above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in
his own mind. He who observes the
day (not a day), observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not
observe it” (Romans 14:5-6).
2.
Bring no more futile sacrifices
The main reason for
having a holy convocation is to offer to the Lord the food for His offerings as
we have been duly instructed saying; “These are the feasts of the LORD which
you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the LORD, a burnt
offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, everything on
its day. This offering as one can clearly see is besides or in addition to
observing the Sabbaths of the LORD, besides our gifts, besides all our vows,
and besides all our freewill offerings which you give to the LORD (Leviticus
23:37-38).
Therefore, if we are
appearing before the Lord on a day and occasion which He has not ordained the
offerings or sacrifices we offer will all be in vain and futile,
3.
Incense is an abomination to Me.
Incense is synonymous
to prayer and signifies that our prayers when we appear before God on a day and
occasion which He has not ordained is to Him an abomination.
4.
Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a
trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them.
Note carefully that
what the Lord’s soul hates is our new Moons and our appointed feasts not His
appointed feasts because His appointed feasts were specifically ordained as times of holy convocation for the Lord's people to appear before Him and have fellowship with Him and with one another and Jesus Christ officiating as our High Priest.
