Seeing the
invisible
One important thing we as
believers should be able to know, believe and understand is that of being able
to see the invisible because we have been clearly instructed by the apostle
Paul saying; “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are
clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal
power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse” (Romans3:20).
One of
the most important invisible things that we as believers need to focus on is
that of the inner man, the new man which was created in Christ Jesus in
righteousness and true holiness and not spending all our time focusing on the
old outward man which is perishing day by day but should be focusing of the new
inner man which is being renewed day by day.
And so
the most significant question to us as believers is how we are to renew the new man
day by day?
To know
how to renew the new man on a daily basis it is imperative that we first of all
know what the nature of the new man is in order to provide the proper nutrients
and how to supply it. The nature of the new man as clearly stated in scriptures which is in true righteousness and holiness and the daily renewal is in knowledge
according to the image of Him who created him (Ephesians 4:24’ Colossians 3:10).
So then let us look at these
three basic things by which the new inner man is being renewed day by day.
1.
True
righteousness
First and foremost it is
important to note that, there are three different acts of righteousness: There
is man’s own righteousness which according to the prophet Ezekiel’ “But we are
all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousness’s are like filthy rags; We
all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away”
(Ezekiel 64:6).
There is also the act of
righteousness which the apostle Paul noted as follows; “Therefore by the deeds
of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the
knowledge of sin. But
now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by
the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus
Christ, to all and on all who believe: For there is no difference; for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:21-23).
And there is the true
righteousness of God through faith which the apostle Paul stated as follows: “For
if by the one man's (Adam) offense death reigned through the one, much more
those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will
reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.) Therefore, as through one man's
offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through
one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in
justification of life: For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners,
so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:17-19).
Therefore, this state of righteousness
which we are required to nourish daily is the act of righteousness which Jesus
Christ did in order for us to receive the gift of righteousness and according
to the apostle Paul; “And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of
righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.
For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of
lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves
of righteousness for holiness” (Romans 6:18-19).
This act of righteousness to
which we are now enslaved to is the same act of righteousness that when
practice leads to holiness, confirming our new birth and makes us righteous even as Jesus Christ Himself is righteous (Romans 6:19; 1John 2:29; 1John 3:7).
