The second integral component for the unification of the body of Christ is to know, understand and believe that Jesus Christ is our Righteousness Who as our High Priest intervenes, makes intercessions and make things right with the Father on our behalf. He is the word of God which is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart which convicts the individual to bring about a change and transformation, so that the body may be presented as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is our spiritual act of worship.
However,
this necessitating that we; "Live a life worthy of the calling which we
have received, and be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with
one another in love, and make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit
through the bond of peace. For Christ Himself bore our sins in His body [flesh]
on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. And
remember also that Christ our righteousness set us an example that we should
follow His steps.
For,
“Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it, that He might sanctify and
cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that He might present it to Himself
a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it
should be holy and without blemish” (Ephesians
4:25-27).
And not only did He set us and example that we
should follow His steps but He also understands our weaknesses and sympathize
with us as we have been duly instructed saying; “Seeing then that we have a
great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let
us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot
sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet
without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:14-16).
The
plan which the Lord has for His church was foreordained before the foundation
of the world: "For He chose us in Christ before the creation of the world
to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted
as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will - to
the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given us in the One He
loves” (Ephesians 1:4-6).
As High
Priest it is the duty and responsibility of Jesus Christ to offer gifts and
sacrifices on our behalf as we have been duly instructed saying; “Therefore, in
all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and
faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the
sins of the people: For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is
able to aid those who are tempted” (Hebrews
2:17-18).
“For
every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things
pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.” And.
“For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices.
Therefore it is necessary that this One also have something to offer” (Hebrews 5:1; 8:3).
Jesus
Christ therefore as our High Priest, our Righteousness, the One who intercedes
on our behalf and makes things right with the Father has to offer gifts and sacrifices
to the Father on our behalf in order that we can have fellowship with one
another and with the Father and the son.
