Have you been deceived?

HAVE YOU BEEN DECEIVED?

Permit me to  ask a thought- provoking question; Are you among the many who have been deceived?

To some people this question may sound rather preposterous and inconceivable in this modern era of higher learning, science, and technology.

Nevertheless, inconceivable as it may sound, we have been forewarned saying, “Let no one deceive himself, if anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God” (1Corinthians 3:18-19).

 Regardless how wise one may think he/she is in regards to the things of this world, he/she can not understand the spiritual things, because the natural mind does not receive the things of the Spirit, they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned.

 We have been forewarned by the greatest Teacher of all times saying; “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.”

 He said again, “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.” He also predicted of the time when, “False Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect,’ and said, ‘See, I have told you ahead of time” (Matthew. 24:4, 5, 10,11, 24, 25).

There is also the prophetic word which reminds us of the great whore [church] who sits on many waters [nations] with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication [intimate political relation], and intoxicated [deceived] the inhabitants of the earth with the wine of her fornication.

Since it is predicted that the many and not the few that will be deceived, the thought - provoking question is, “Are you among the many that are deceived?”

The deception will be so intense and widespread, if it would have been possible, even the very elect would have been deceived. Therefore, what assurance can one have to ascertain that he/she is not deceived!

First of all, a deceived person does not know that he/she is deceived. A deceived person is one who has been misled, or made to believe as true something that is false. A deceived person is sincere, but is sincerely wrong.

One makes himself/herself vulnerable to spiritual deception when he/she begins to diverge from the faith which was once and for all delivered to the saints. And this was prophesied to happen long ago. Jude a servant of Jesus Christ wrote saying, “Beloved, being very eager to write to you of our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For admission has been secretly gained by some who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly persons who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ” (Jude 3-4).

Ungodly persons have perverted the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ, by not honoring him with an acceptable offering on the days He has ordained to be honored as Lord. For thus says the Lord, “You shall observe My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary. I am the Lord (Leviticus 19:30; 26:2).

It is the duty of a son to honor his father, and the duty of a servant, to honor his master. The Lord therefore said, “If then I am a Father, where is My honor? And if I am a Master, where is My fear?  

The Sabbaths therefore were ordained for man to come before the Father and Master, with the acceptable gift to honor Him as Lord and for this reason Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath; so the Son of man is Lord even of the Sabbath.” Jesus Christ being Lord or Master of the Sabbath signifies that we as sons and servants must honor Him on that day, which was ordained for that purpose.

The antidote for deception is to abide in the truth, and do not diverge from the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. We have been admonished saying, “See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what He promised us – even eternal life” (1John 2:24-25).

The reason for the apostle John giving this admonition was to avoid deception. He said, “I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.” What we have heard from the beginning; and allowed to abide in us so as not to be deceived is the old commandment.

The Apostle John wrote; “Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. This old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning” (1John .2:7).

According to the Apostle John, the word which was heard from the beginning was, “That which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life. ‘The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us. We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1John. 1:1-3).

The old commandment or the Word which have been heard from the beginning became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

When He came to the world He said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot will pass from the law until all is accomplished”.

He further gave a serious warning and said, “Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:19).

Pause and consider thoroughly, in all of the old commandments written by the Word which was from the beginning, which one of them that has been violated with impunity? The one which has been violated with impunity and held in contempt; is the one the Lord specifically reminded us to keep saying; " Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" and which was ordained, to honor and reverence Him as Lord.

 The first great commandment which is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our mind is fulfilled by practicing the first four of the Ten commandments which constitutes the act of true spiritual worship.

And the second great commandment which is to love our neighbor as ourselves is fulfilled by practicing the last six of the Ten Commandments and being demonstrated by using our different gifts, talents and abilities for the benefit of others.

The main reason why the original apostles proclaimed to us what they have seen and heard, concerning the Word, is for us to have fellowship or communion with them, it is for us to consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as we see the day drawing near.

If you have been taught otherwise, and have been practicing anything contrary to the word which was heard from the beginning, you have strayed away from the faith, and have unfortunately been deceived.

Whosoever does not listen to Moses and the prophets, will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead, because they testify of the Word which was from the beginning. It is up to us to judge ourselves. If we judged ourselves truly, we should not be judged. But when we are judged by the Lord, we are chastened so that we may not be condemned along with the world. For the crux of the matter is, the Lord’s Sabbath/s are holy both to the Lord and to His people and that is the way one demonstrates his/her love, respect, gratitude and adoration to the Lord for what He did for humanity on that particular occasion.

And the sure way of knowing that we are not deceived is by adhering to the instructions which state; " Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him" ( 1 John 2:3-5).

Avoid being one of those who are under the huge cloud of deception by which Satan has deceived the whole world.

If the date of Jesus' birth is unknown the question is, who hid it?

So then, if the date of Jesus Christ birth is unknown the question is who hid it and why was it hidden? It was hidden because according to the book of Lamentations; “The Lord was like an enemy. He has swallowed up Israel, He has swallowed up all her palaces; He has destroyed her strongholds, and has increased mourning and lamentation in the daughter of Judah. He has done violence to His tabernacle, as if it were a garden; He has destroyed His place of assembly; The LORD has caused the appointed feasts and Sabbaths to be forgotten in Zion.”

“In His burning indignation He has spurned the king and the priest. The Lord has spurned His altar, He has abandoned His sanctuary; He has given up the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have made a noise in the house of the LORD as on the day of a set feast” (Lamentations 2:5-7).

There is a penalty for disobedience which is spiritual blindness as stated by the prophet Isaiah saying; “Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but not with intoxicating drink. For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers. The whole vision has become to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, "Read this, please." And he says, "I cannot, for it is sealed."

Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, "Read this, please." And he says, "I am not literate." Therefore the Lord said: " Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work among this people, A marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden" (Isaiah 29:9-14 ).

Our disobedience and lack of reverence to God have caused a spiritual blindness preventing us from observing the day which was designated for the joy of all people as again illustrated by the prophet Isaiah saying; “Go, and tell this people: ' Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive. Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return and be healed" (Isaiah 6:9-10).

Unfortunately, the whole world is under a heavy cloud of deception and for some reason has not been able to associate the date of Christ’s birth with the Feast of Tabernacles which is intertwined with each other and the Eighth Day of the feast which commemorates the date of His circumcision.

The crux of the matter is, the most important criterion when it comes to worship the One and only true God is that we worship Him in spirit and in truth for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. Now to worship the Father in spirit denotes that there must be purpose, intent, rationale and objective for presenting ourselves before Him and this intent or rationale must be in truth which according to the Psalmist David; “The entirety of Your word is truth” and according to the apostle John; “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth” (Psalms 119:160; John 17:17).

Therefore, since the Word (Jesus Christ) who is the same yesterday, today and forever and does not change ordained His date of birth, the day that God took on flesh and dwelt among men as a time of great joy to all people became to be unknown, forgotten and reached the point of being substituted by a pagan festival?

When the word of God clearly states that, “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, on them there will be no rain.”

“If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zachariah 14:16-19).

As one can clearly see that there is a feast ordained by God for the joy of all people. In the Old Testament the Israelites were commanded saying; “You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God " (Leviticus 23:41-43).

In our New Testament dispensation this festival is to commemorate the day that God took on flesh and dwelt among us and in whom we live and move and have our existence. So, I beg to ask the question, what about this festival that one is unable to understand? Whether to observe and commemorate it as the arrival of the King of kings and Lord of lords or as the day of Joy which God ordained for the joy of all people?

God has overlooked these times of ignorance and now commands all men everywhere to repent. The sin of irreverence the lack of love, respect, adoration and appreciation for what the Lord has and is doing for humanity is the root cause of the division and dissensions that exist in the church, the failure to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth and laying aside the commandments of God and following the customs and traditions of men. What a shame!

Why is the day designated by God for the joy of all people be unknown?

It is without any shadow of doubt that human beings love to commemorate anniversaries of events that are very significant to them such as birthdays, anniversaries, independence, even designating special days for certain activities such as, carnival, creole day, Mother’s and Father’s day etc. And the rationale for observing and celebrating these festivities is synonymous.

It is all in memory of what transpired on that particular day and by observing it one expresses his/her love, gratitude appreciation and thanksgiving for what transpired on that particular day or event and perpetuating it for future generations.

With this said, I beg to ask a question, why is the most joyous and memorable day which was ordained and destined for the joy of all peoples is either said to be unknown, forgotten by some and blatantly substituted with a pagan festival by others? When the arrival of that day and occasion was herald by an angel who stated the following; "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2: 10-11).

Now, to confirm the magnitude and significance of this day and occasion we are told that, “a multitude of the heavenly host joined with the angel who made the announcement all praising God and saying: " Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:17-18).

I therefore humbly beg to ask the question, how could such a remarkable day which was ordained and destined for the joy of all people be unknown, forgotten and having the cause to be substituted by some pagan festival called Christmas? Taking into consideration the fact that on this particular day and event we are told that the shepherds to whom this day and event was revealed did not keep it a secret because it is stated that, “when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, "Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us."

And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds” (Luke 2:15-18).

So, what exactly did the shepherds made widely known after seeing Mary and Joseph and the Babe lying in the manger? They made widely known what was said to them by the angel which was; “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Now we are further told that; the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them. And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb” (Luke 2:20-21).

The Date of Christ's death points to the date of His birth

THE DAY OF CHRIST’S DEATH POINTSTO THE DAY OF HIS BIRTH 

I am sure that despite all the proofs and evidences I gave regarding the Feast of Tabernacles and its Eighth Day how they commemorate the birth and circumcision of Jesus Christ that there are still believers who are still not convinced of the reality and significance of this festival in our New testament dispensation. So here is another biblical proof to support this theory.

It is generally accepted according to the book of Luke that, “Jesus himself began his ministry at about thirty years of age.” And his ministry lasted for three and a half years .He died on the fourteenth day of the first month according to the Jewish sacred Calendar, which theoretically points to his birth date as the fifteenth day of the seventh month, exactly six months after the date of his death.

Jesus’ ministry began at the Feast of Tabernacles. It is written, “Now the Jews feast of Tabernacles was at hand. So his brothers said to him, “Leave here and go to Judea that your disciples may see the works you are doing. For no man works in secret if he seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, show yourself to the world. For even his brothers did not believe him” (John 7:2-5)

About the middle of the Feast Jesus went up to the temple and taught. The Jews marveled at it, saying, “How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied? (John 7:14-15).

Three and a half years of ministry beginning with the Feast of Tabernacles, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, and culminating with his death on the 14th day of the first month at the Passover.

The birth of John Baptist also points to the birth of Jesus Christ to the seventh month of the Jewish sacred calendar. It was the official duty of Aaron and four of his sons, namely; Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar to offer sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense, for all the work of the most holy place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded (1Chronicles 6:49; 23:27-32).

Two of the sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu died before Aaron their father, and had no children; therefore Eleazar and Ithamar ministered as priests. David divided the services of the temple between the sons of Eleazar who numbered sixteen, and the sons of Ithamar who numbered eight, giving a total of twenty four divisions (1Chronicles 24:1-4).

Dividing twenty four divisions to serve during a period of twelve months means that, each division would have to serve for a period of two (2) weeks: or more precisely two weeks, one day, and four hours, by dividing fifty two weeks in the year into twenty four divisions.

The scriptures state that Abijah from whom Zacharias the father of John Baptist descended was of the eighth division. Implying that the time Zacharias was visited by the angel it was during the fifteenth and sixteenth week of the Jewish sacred calendar, or the last two weeks of the fourth month.

Now according to Luke’s gospel, “As soon as the days of his [Zacharias’] service were completed, that he departed to his own house’. Now after those days his wife Elizabeth conceived; and she hid herself five months saying, thus the Lord has dealt with me, in the days when he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.”

Zacharias leaving the temple at the end of the fourth month mute, and unable to speak because he did not believe what the angel told him, went home to his wife at the beginning of the fifth month, therefore we can conclude that Elizabeth was conceived during the fifth month.

Nine months of normal pregnancy will lead us to the birth of John Baptist, to be during the first month of the following year. It is well documented in the scriptures that John Baptist was six months older than Jesus Christ (see Luke 1:26, 36). 

Therefore if John Baptist was born during the first month of the year, it is therefore conclusive that Jesus Christ was born during the seventh month of the year according to the Jewish calendar, which begins its first month with the first new moon in spring, between the months of March – April, and the seventh month begins with the new moon between late September and early October.

Hope that everyone had a joyous feast of Tabernacles which began on Tuesday 7th October 2025, and concludes with the Eighth day on Tuesday 14th October 2025.

The Eighth Day

The Feast of Tabernacles as one can clearly see has an Eighth Day associated with it as we have been duly instructed saying; “On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.”  “Also, on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruit of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD for seven days; on the first day there shall be a sabbath-rest, and on the eighth day a sabbath-rest” (Leviticus 23: 36,39).

So, the question is, what is the significance and rationale for the eighth day of the Feast? The eighth day in scriptures have different connotations such as a day of cleansing, special offerings and circumcision but in relations to the Feast of Tabernacles it pertains to the circumcision of Jesus Christ as illustrated in the Gospel of Luke which states; “And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb” (Luke 2:21).

The day on which Jesus Christ was circumcised should be a day of great significance to humanity because it was on that day that He received the name JESUS the name which is above all names as we have been duly instructed saying; “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11).

This day therefore, like all worldly annual festivals which are celebrated annually in commemoration of a particular event and perpetuated for future generations to remember, honor and show appreciation and recognition for what transpired on that particular day, so also are all of God’s annual festivals including the Eighth Day of the Feast of Tabernacles the day on which Jesus received the name which is above all other names. Therefore, a day of such tremendous importance to humanity should not be ignored or compromised if we truly believe. love and appreciate what the Lord did for humanity on this particular day.

The Eighth day of the Feast of Tabernacles, the day on which Jesus Christ was circumcised also commemorates the day which brought unity between Jews and Gentiles as we have been duly instructed saying; “Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh --- who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands --- that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.”

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both (Jews and Gentiles) one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near: For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2: 11-18).

The Eighth Day of the Feast of Tabernacles therefore, is a significant day for humanity to commemorate the circumcision of Jesus Christ and express their love, gratitude and appreciation to Jesus Christ for what He did for humanity on the day.

It is our failure to show appreciation to the Lord by not observing His Sabbaths His ordained festivals at their appointed times and not following the protocols that is the root cause of the divisions that exist in the church. It is the sin of irreverence, lack of love, respect, adoration and gratitude to Jesus Christ for what He did for humanity on that particular day.

Whether anyone wants to accept it or not, the crux of the matter is, it is the observance of the Lord’s Sabbaths that sanctifies us and set us apart. For we have been duly instructed saying; “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: 'Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you” (Exodus 31:13).

And, “I am the LORD your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God” (Ezekiel 20:19-20).

It is by observing the Lord’s Sabbaths (not just the weekly seventh day Sabbath) but also the yearly Sabbaths that we express our gratitude to God as to Who He is and what He has and still doing for humanity. Failure to observe the Lord’s Sabbaths is to dishonor Him, it is the sin of irreverence the lack of love, respect, gratitude, adoration and thanksgiving for what He did for humanity on these particular days.

The rationale for observing the Feast of Tabernacles

So, the multimillion question is, what is the rationale for observing the Feast of Tabernacles in our New Testament dispensation which even those who are presently observing it have not conceptualized?

The rationale for observing the Feast of Tabernacles in our New Testament dispensation as clearly stated by the prophet Zechariah is to worship the King the LORD of hosts. And so, the other important question is, when was Jesus Christ inaugurated as “King the Lord of hosts”?

The inauguration of Jesus Christ as King was foretold by the prophet Isaiah long before Jesus Christ was born for it is written; “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this” (Isaiah 9:6-7).

Therefore, according to the prophet Isaiah the Kingship of Jesus Christ began from the time of His birth and will continue forever and the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this and the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.

Now since it is stated that; "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established." It is imperative that we establish in our hearts the truth as to when was Jesus Christ inaugurated as King and how does the Feast of Tabernacles is ordained to commemorate the Kingship of Jesus Christ which began at His birth by looking at two other examples:

1. Visit of the wise men from the East

In the Gospel of Matthew, we are told that; “Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, "Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him."

And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, (which was to honor Him as King), frankincense (to honor Him as God) and myrrh (to honor Him as man). (Matthew 2:1-2,11).

2. Jesus’ trial before Pilate

When Jesus was brought before Pilate He was asked by Pilate; “Are You the King of the Jews?" Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?" Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?" Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." Then, Pilate said to Him again; "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (John 18:37).

So, there is absolutely no shadow of doubt that, the Kingship of Jesus Christ began at His birth and if the Feast of Tabernacle is ordained so that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles doesn’t this confirms the fact that the Feast of Tabernacles commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ?

Feast of Tabernacles obsolete or current?

 To ascertain that the sin of irreverence is the root cause of the disunity and confusion that exist in the church, the body of Christ let us take a close examination of the Lord’s appointed festivals especially the feat of Tabernacles to prove how much we who profess to be believers in Jesus Christ are demonstrating a lack of love, respect, honor, appreciation, gratitude and complete irreverence to Jesus Christ whom we claim to love.

Let me begin by asking some very simple questions:

1.     how many professing believers know of a biblical festival called the “Feast of Tabernacles?

2.      How many of those who have heard about it are observing it?

3.     How many of those who are observing it truly knows and understand the meaning and the rationale for observing this festival in our New Testament dispensation?

In the Old Testament the rationale for observing this festival is stated as follows: “You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."(Leviticus 23:41-43).

But today, in our New Testament dispensation what is the rationale for observing the Feast of Tabernacles? I know that there are those who although they are not native Israelites dwell in temporary dwellings during this festival, but what is truly the significance and rationale for observing this festival in our New Testament dispensation?

Let us be open-minded and allow the Holy Spirit to help us understand the rationale and significance of the feast of Tabernacles in our new dispensation. Let us first and foremost begin by confirming that it is the LORD the WORD of God who later became Jesus Christ that gave these instructions to observe this festival to the Lord.

Now it is plainly stated in scriptures that; “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Therefore, since Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever and He before ordained that this festival be kept in His honor and scriptures confirm that this festival will be observed in the future as clearly stated saying: “And it shall come to pass that everyone who is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:16).

This festival is so important to the Lord that in the future, punishment will be imposed on any family or nation that will not come up and observe the feast of Tabernacles as plainly stated saying; “And it shall be that whichever of the families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD 

of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:17-19).

And so, I beg to ask the question, why is it that the majority of those who professed to be believers in Jesus Christ either do not know about this festival, those who have heard about it but choose not to observe it and even those who are observing it presently do not know the spirit or rationale for observing it. What a shame!
