3. Prayer
The
third pre-condition of assuring that God will hear us from heaven, and will
forgive us of our sins and heal our land is through prayer, the means by which
one communicates and make their requests and supplications to the Father.
Prayer
basically consists of five (5) integral parts;
a.
Adoration
Which is to exalt
the name of God for His sovereignty and majesty as demonstrated by Nebuchadnezzar
who said; “And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to
heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and
praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting
dominion, and His kingdom is from generation to generation. All the inhabitants
of the earth are reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army
of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand
or say to Him, "What have You done?" (Daniel 4:34-35).
b.
Confession
Because
no one can say, I have no sin, or I have not sinned and light has no fellowship
with darkness it becomes imperative that sin be confessed and forgiven when
communicating with the Father, as we have been admonished saying; “If we
confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse
us from all unrighteousness” (1John 1:9).
c.
Supplications
Which
is to entreat the Lord in a humbly manner on behalf of others as we have been
admonished saying; “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and
all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all
godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God
our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the
truth”
(1Timothy 2:1-4)
d.
Intercessions
For we have been
duly admonished saying; “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders
of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name
of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will
raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
Confess your
trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man
with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it
did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again,
and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit” (James 5:14-18).
e.
Thanksgiving
For we have
received the consolation saying; “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by
prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to
God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Jesus also consoles us by saying; “And
whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Philippians
4:6-7; John 21:22).
