Trusting God is
demonstrated by having complete trust, confidence and reliance in the following:
·
In God’s name
As demonstrated by the Psalmist David who
wrote, “Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. For our
heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name” (Psalms 33:20-21).
·
In God’s Word
The
Psalmist David again wrote “Let your mercies come also to me, O Lord – your
salvation according to Your word, so shall I have an answer for him who
reproaches me, for I trust in your word” (Psalms 119:41-42
• In Christ;
As we
have received the consolation saying; “Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! I will put My Spirit upon Him, and
He will declare justice to the Gentiles. He will not quarrel nor cry out, nor
will anyone hear His voice in the streets. A bruised reed He will not break,
and smoking flax He will not quench, till He sends forth justice to victory;
and in His name Gentiles will trust."
(Matthew 12:18-21).
Those of
us who profess to have surrendered our lives to God: let us truly examine
ourselves in this time of global crisis and ask ourselves the question, where
is our trust? Is it in God’s name, His word, in Jesus Christ? Or is it in science
and our security? Remember, we have been admonished saying, “My soul, wait
silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and
my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation
and my glory; the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him
at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for
us. Selah” (Psalms 62:5-8).
What we
believers are facing presently is the testing of the genuineness of our faith
which is much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by
fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus
Christ and let us not forget that, it will be only those who has overcome this
world just as Jesus Christ overcame and has gain the victory over the beast,
over his image and over his mark, over the number of his name that will be
granted to sit with Jesus Christ on His throne.
For this
is what the Lord is presently saying to those who claim to believe and trust
Him, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the
door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. To him who
overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat
down with My Father on His throne. "He who has an ear, let him hear what
the Spirit says to the churches” (Revelation 3:19-22).
We have
also been cautioned by the apostle Paul saying; “And my speech and my preaching
were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the
Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in
the power of God.” Totally contrary to what we are hearing today, the popular
saying today is, “let us trust science”.
But the
crux of the matter is; “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and
receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink
of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup
of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the
presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of
their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who
worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his
name." Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the
commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:9-12).
Our
trust therefore as believers ought not to be in the wisdom of men (science) but
should only is in the power of God.
