So here are some logical reasons why Christians should not observe
Christmas festivals:
1.
Christmas
has a pagan origin
In this regard, the Lord, who is Jesus
Christ, and Who is the same yesterday, today and forever warned His people concerning
the worshiping of false gods and said; “When the Lord your God cuts off from
before you the nations which you go to dispossess, and you displace them and
dwell in their land, take heed to yourself that
you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you,
and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, 'How did these nations serve
their gods? I also will do likewise.'
“You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way;
for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods;
for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods: Whatever
I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away
from it” (Deuteronomy 12: 29-32).
We are further instructed saying; “Hear
the word which the Lord speaks to you, O house of Israel. Thus says the Lord: "Do not learn the way of the
Gentiles; do not be dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the Gentiles are
dismayed at them.
For the customs of the peoples are futile; for one cuts a tree from the
forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax.'
“They decorate it with silver and gold; they fasten it
with nails and hammers so that it will not topple. They are upright, like a palm tree, and
they cannot speak; they must be carried, because they cannot go by themselves.
Do not be afraid of them, for they cannot do evil, nor can they do any
good" (Jeremiah 10:1-5).
There is no shadow of doubt that the Christmas
celebration has everything to do with this vain custom.
2. The festival of Christmas honors the
adversary Satan the devil
Since there are two kingdoms which governs
this world, namely, the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness and since
this festival was introduced to Christianity by the fourth beast to whom Satan
has given his throne, his power and great authority, obviously, this festival
honors the ruler of the kingdom of darkness and not the Ruler of the kingdom of
light.
The introduction or the merging of
Christmas with Christianity we are told according to history was implemented by
the fourth beast of Daniel's prophecy, for it is stated that “The first mention
of the celebration of Christmas occurred in A.D. 336 in an early Roman
calendar, which indicates December 25th. as the day of observance.”
In a vision seen by the prophet Daniel he said, “I saw in my
vision by night, and behold, the four winds of heaven were stirring up the
Great Sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, each
different from the other.”
The
vision was later interpreted to Daniel and he said; "I, Daniel, was
grieved in my spirit within my body, and the visions of my head troubled me. I came near to
one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me
and made known to me the interpretation of these things: 'Those great beasts, which
are four, are four kings which arise out of the earth” (Daniel 7:2-3; 15-17).
The four great beasts or kings/kingdoms which arise out of the earth are:
1.
The
Chaldean/Babylonian Empire (605-506 B.C)
2.
The Persian
Empire (529.B.C)
3.
The
Grecian/Macedonian Empire (Golden age 461-431 B.C.)
4.
The Roman Empire
with its seven revivals (200 B.C.
At the time the apostle John wrote the book of
Revelation he wrote this concerning this fourth kingdom, “Then I stood on the
sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads
and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous
name” (Revelation 13:1).
Now the angel who revealed the mystery of the beast
(kingdom), and the woman (church) who controls it said to him, "Why did
you marvel? I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that
carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns.
The beast that you saw was, and is not, and will
ascend out of the bottomless pit (Satan's kingdom) and go to perdition. And
those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the
Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that
was, and is not, and yet is.'
"Here
is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the
woman (church) sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and
the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.
The beast
that was, and is not, is himself also the eighth, and is of the seven, and is
going to perdition” (Revelation 17:7-11).
Now the remarkable or distinguish characteristics of
this fourth beast is that it bears the characteristics of the other three
previous beasts for it is written; “Now the beast which I saw was like a
leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of
a lion. The dragon (Satan the devil) gave him his power, his throne, and great
authority. (Revelation 13:2-4)
The
sad reality is, inasmuch as it is the beast to whom Satan has given his power,
his throne, and great authority that amalgamated Christmas to Christianity,
whoever therefore observes this festival, honors Satan, for it is written; “And
I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound
was healed. And the entire world marveled and followed the beast. So they
worshiped the dragon (Satan the devil) who gave authority to the beast; and
they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to
make war with him?" (Revelation 13:3-4).
The
crux of the matter is, one is either a citizen of the kingdom of light or a
citizen of the kingdom of darkness because the moment we receive and accept
Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior the Father deliver us from the power of
darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we
have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins: (Colossians 1:13-14).
And
so, we are either citizens of the kingdom of darkness whose ruler is Satan the
devil, or we are citizens of the Kingdom of light whose Ruler is Jesus Christ.
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love
the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You
cannot serve God and mammon.” Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a
bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree
bear good fruit” (Matthew 6:24; 7: 17-18).
The
choice is for every individual to make; for we must all appear before the
judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Everyone will have to give
an account of himself to God. So the choice is for every individual to make.
