Prerequisites in having
access to the Father
This
status of having access to the Father can only be attained under the following
conditions;
- “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin” (John 1:7).
Please
notice carefully that the phrase; “and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son
cleanses us from all sin” is current signifying that it is something that takes
place during the worship service.
- “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
So
these are the prerequisites by which one can have fellowship with one another
and with the Father and the Son and thus clarifying an important statement made
by Jesus Christ and the apostle Paul respectively stating; “I am the way, the
truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).
And,
the apostle Paul’s statement which states; “Therefore, brethren, having
boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way
which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a
High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our
bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews
10:19-22).
In
both instances, we see clearly that, the way to the presence of the Father is
through the flesh of Jesus Christ represented by the unleavened bread, the
boldness, and confidence to approach the throne of grace is through the blood
of Jesus Christ represented by the wine and having Jesus Christ as our eternal
High Priest.
One
should also take into consideration the huge disparity that exist between the
holiness of the Father and the sinfulness of man and therefore, the only
possibility for man to have any relationship with the Father is through His Son
as we have been duly instructed saying “For there is one God and one Mediator
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all,
to be testified in due time” (1Timothy
2:5-6).
Now the
way that Jesus Christ mediates on our behalf is by Him being our High Priest
intercedes with the Father on our behalf and by offering His body and blood in
the form of the unleavened bread and the wine as the reconciliation and
redemption price for our sins because, without the shedding of blood there is
no redemption. So here again we see the humongous importance of offering the
Lord the food for His offerings at their appointed time.
