The heart and core of the gospel (part 2)

God´s testimony regarding His Son

The first integral component of the true gospel has to do with reference to God´s testimony regarding His Son as we have been instructed saying; “He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son. And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God” (1John 5:10-13).

The first intrinsic part of the true gospel has to do with who Jesus Christ is before He took on flesh and this sets a very good precedence so that we can know distinctly who we are dealing with as Jesus graciously expressed in His prayer to the Father saying; "Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.”

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do. And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was” (John 17; 1-5).

The glory which Jesus Christ had with the Father before the world was is that, “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:15-17).

It is Jesus Christ who, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that were made life. In Him was, and the life was the light of men” (John 1: 1-4).

And since He is the One who did all these things, our admonition is to; "Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water" (Revelation 14:7).

We should also note the fact that, Jesus Christ is also the One who instructed the children of Israel in the wilderness and gave Moses His laws and statutes as a perpetual covenant saying; “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: 'Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you…Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed " (Exodus 31:13-14, 16-17)

And so, it is imperative for us to note and consider that it is Jesus Christ the Word who created the heavens and the earth, who became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth and who is the same yesterday, today, and forever and therefore, it is incumbent that all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him” (John 1:14, Hebrews 13:8; John 5:23)

And this is where I perceived that the majority of people who profess to be believers fall short by committing the sin of irreverence because they are not worshiping the Lord as ordained, for it is stated categorically; “You shall keep My Sabbaths and reverence My sanctuary: I am the LORD”… “These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times” (Leviticus 19:30; 26:2; 23:4).

So let us be honest with ourselves, if we are not appearing before the Lord on the days He has appointed and instead, appearing before Him on days He has not appointed, the question is who we are worshiping! Are we not worshiping in vain by observing the customs and traditions on men? Taking into consideration the fact that, our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

The heart and core of the Gospel

The heart and core of the Gospel

What is it in the Gospel that causes so much confusions and divisions among those who profess to be believers! What makes it so difficult for families and best of friends to come together to worship the One and only true God which they all claimed to believe in? Taking into consideration the fact that, “God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints” (1Corinthians 14:33).

Furthermore, we have been admonished to; “endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, for there is one body and one Spirit, just as we were called in one hope of our calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all” (Ephesians 4:3-6).

We should also consider the plea made by the apostle Paul who wrote, “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” Now the reason why the apostle made this plea it is because “Sectarianism” which is the idea of each belonging to a particular sect, religion or denomination is sin (1Corinthians 1:10).

Therefore, the question is why are families and best of friends so divided in their pursuit to follow Jesus Christ? Is Christ divided? Which religion that was crucified for us! And were we baptized in the name of any specific religion? We should all consider the fact that ultimately, each of us shall give account of himself /herself to God: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2Corinthians 5:10).

So my greatest concern is, what is so complicated in the Gospel that the majority of us who profess to be believers are blaspheming the sacred name of Jesus Christ “who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began(2Timothy 1:9)!

There has been from the very inception of the church fears of people preaching false gospels as forewarned by the apostle Paul saying; “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed” (Ephesians 1:6-9).

So then, what is this one and only Gospel which has been delivered to us and we should not turn away from? First and foremost, the word gospel denotes good news, and so, it is the good news as explained by the apostle Paul who was assigned to the Gentiles, it is the good news of the grace of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. For this is what the apostle Paul wrote; “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God: For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1Corinthinan 2:1-2).

Therefore, the one and only gospel which we are not to turn away from is made up of three integral components, and they are;

a.       God´s testimony regarding His Son

b.      The grace of Jesus Christ

c.       The crucifixion of Jesus Christ

When is the beginning of a new day

There are three different schools of thought when it comes to the subject of “when is the beginning of a new day!” The irony of truth is, all three ideologies cannot be right, only one is right and the other two are false, but how can we prove which one that is right?

The three schools of thought are midnight which is the most popular, sunset and sunrise. So the logical question is which one is correct? I will attempt to make this debate as short and simple as possible by considering a few basic points.

1.      The Passover
The Passover lamb was killed at twilight, at the going down of the sun on the fourteenth day of the first month. The Israelites prepared and ate the Passover through the night and were commanded to stay indoors and not to go out of their houses which were protected by the sprinkling of the blood of the lamb on their door post. At midnight, the death angel killed all first born of man and beast, all this happened on the fourteenth day of the month, so how can a new day begin either at sunset or at midnight?

2.      The Day of Atonement
It is stated clearly that the Day of Atonement is on the tenth day of the seventh month, and one is required to begin afflicting their souls (fast); “on the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall celebrate your Sabbath" (Leviticus 23:32). I
f a day begins at sunset, why called the evening before the tenth day the ninth day?

3.      The crucifixion
If about the ninth hour (of the day) Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" that is, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" And this ninth hour coincides with three O´clock in the afternoon, how can a day therefore begins at sunset or at midnight?
4.      The tomb visit
If the ladies who followed Christ came to the tomb after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, (while it was still dark) Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.” What that is saying is that it was not yet the first day of the week, it was dawning towards it. So I beg to ask the question again, how can a new day begin at sunset or midnight?
5.      Pentecost
If on the day of Pentecost the people were accusing the disciples of being drunk men, but Peter “raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day” (Acts 2:14-15).
So when is the third hour of the day! Is it not nine O´clock in the morning?  And what does the scripture says of those who get drunk? It says “For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night” (1 Thessalonians 5:7).

6.      Creation week
The most popular scripture used by those who teach that a day begins at sunset is what is stated in the scriptures regarding what the Lord did during the six days of creation which state, “So the evening and the morning were the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, six day”.
Because the word evening precedes the morning, they are assuming that a day begins at sunset. The irony of truth is, before creation week, time was not in existence, there were no seconds, minutes, hours, day, week, month, years, day or night it was eternity. But because of Lucifer´s rebellion the earth became null and void and darkness was on the face of the deep.
So it is only when God re-created the earth for man´s existence that time, day and night, weeks, months and years came into existence when He said, “Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw the light that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day” (Genesis 1:3-5).
Therefore, it was only when the Lord said, “Let there be light” that a day was created, and the light He called day, and the darkness which Lucifer created because of his downfall was added to the light to complete a full day cycle.
Also, on the third day of creation it was the greater light which rules the day that was first created for it is written; "Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness" ( Genesis 1:16-18).

These times of ignorance God has overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because both light and darkness represent two diametric kingdoms known as the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness, therefore this particular situation is not as trivial as most of us believe, but the big question is, who do you believe?
The choice is yours.

The church in true perspective

What is our perspective of the church which Jesus Christ built, which He promised that the gates of hell shall never prevail against it? Is it a religious organization? The church in the true sense of the word refers to “All who have been Redeemed,” Or groups of Christians assembled for worship.

But the basis on which most religious organizations calling themselves churches operate, it is quite apparent that they have not conceptualized the huge separation that exists between the church and the world, between light and darkness, between carnality and spirituality, between Jews and Gentiles.
The church is made up of individuals or groups of people who have been sanctified or set apart as holy unto the Lord.
We all have the same equal opportunity to be one of those sanctified ones because God raised us (humanity) up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus. It is in Christ Jesus that we all live and move and have our being; He is the vine and we are the branches.
We all have been given the equal opportunity in order that in the coming age, God the Father might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. Those who have accepted the invitation to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and have not received the grace of God in vain, have become a special people to God, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
They do not become special because of anything that they have done, but rather it is, “When the kindness and love of God our Savior towards man appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy, He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:4-7)
Remember, it is by grace we all have been saved, through faith, and this is not from ourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, so that no one can boast. Therefore those who are sanctified have nothing to boast about, and should not hold those who are not yet sanctified in condemnation: neither should those who are not sanctified hold those who are sanctified in contempt.
However those who are sanctified, and are still being sanctified must raise their consciousness and come to the realization as who they really are, and the reason for being chosen in Christ Jesus even before the foundation of the world.
The titles which are assigned to the church are clear indications of the intimate relationship the church enjoys with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and this relationship ought not to be compromised under no circumstances because, "This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth" (1 John 1:5-6).
The church for example is referred to as, the Bride of Christ, the Body of Christ, the flock of God, the temple of God, the household of God, the habitation of God, God’s spiritual house, God’s building, God’s husbandry etc.
This means that the church is inter-related with the Father and the Son. The apostle John wrote: “We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us: And our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ” (1 John 1:3).
However, despite the close relationship the church enjoys with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, there is a basis, or a fundamental principle by which the church can have fellowship with the Father.
The church therefore has an obligation which is not towards the sinful nature, to live according to it, for if we live according to the sinful nature we shall die, despite the fact that God has saved it. Hence the reason Jude reminds us by saying; 'But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe."
We therefore have an obligation to live in accordance to the Spirit, if we want to live. It is therefore incumbent on the church to become slaves of righteousness, because having been set free from sin we automatically became slaves of righteousness, therefore the church must consider itself slaves as stewards of the mysteries of God.

How practical is conversion

How practical is conversion

Conversion is a term that is widely used in the religious circle, but I wonder how many people have taken the time to ponder on the significance of conversion, and what actually transpires at conversion, and whether it is a real and literal process.
To the majority of people, conversion is simply a change from one belief to another, a change from lack of belief to having faith, or the act of turning away from sin to God. But is there something more practical and literal that takes place at conversion which is openly manifested in the life of the individual who is converted?
I therefore beg to ask the question is the plea to be converted figurative, metaphoric or is it a literal and practical exercise?
To better understand the significance and profoundness of conversion, let us look at some practical examples.
 1. From pride to humility Jesus Christ said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 18:3-4).

 2. From serving idols to serving the One and only true God As alluded to by Peter who admonished the people saying; “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began” (Acts 3:19-21).

 3. From slaves of sin to slaves of God/righteousness

 Let us look at some of the admonitions given in regard to this area of conversion;
  • “Do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God” (Romans 6:13).
  •  “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? (Romans 6:16).
  • “But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness” (Romans 6:17-18).
  • “For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness” (Romans 6:19).
  • “For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness” (Romans 6:20
  • “But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life” (Romans 6:22).
4. .From a natural/carnal mind to a spiritual mind

It is stated quite explicitly that; “Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be” (Romans 8:5-7).

It is stated also that; “The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one” (1 Corinthians 2:14-15).

This area of conversion also brings about a conversion of how the individual actually lives and walks in his/her daily life, for we have been admonished saying; “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish” (Galatians 5:16-17).
And so the admonition continues, “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors --- not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live” (Romans 8:12-13).
This conversion is so significant and practical that the converted individual is expected to; “No longer should live the rest of his/her time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles --- when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries: In regard to these, they think it strange that we do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of us” (1 Peter 4:2-4).

 5. From being citizens of the kingdom of darkness to becoming citizens of the kingdom of light
Necessitating a redirection of our loyalty and primary focus, for this reason we are to; “Give thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:12-14).
Now since this conversion has been effected, the converted has been instructed saying; “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth: For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:1-11).

 6. From a spirit of fear, to the Spirit of power, love, and sound mind

Here again is a literal conversion that takes place in the life of one who is truly converted, for it is stated quite clearly that, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
With a truly converted individual, it is no longer the individual who exercises the power, but the Holy Spirit who dwells in him/her. Like the apostle Paul wrote saying; “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).
Also he said; “For it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. Do all things without complaining and disputing, that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain” (Philippians 2:13-16).

7. From mortal and corruptible to immortal and incorruptible

The final conversation will be our final victory as it is written; “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit in-corruption. Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed ---in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.` “For this corruptible must put on in-corruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on in-corruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory: O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?" The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:50-58).
Therefore, with all these examples, conversion cannot simply denote a change from one belief to another, or from a lack of belief to faith, and not even simply turning from sin to God. It is much more profound than that.

Freedom of choice

Freedom of choice

Man undoubtedly is a free moral agent having the freedom to choose his own destiny, but this choice I am afraid has been misconstrued by many, because the freedom of choice which we all as free moral agents have, is the choice to be either a servant (slave) of God or a servant (slave) of the devil. It is the choice to be a servant of righteousness or a servant of sin, which is man’s independent nature, a choice to be a citizen in the kingdom of light or a citizen in the kingdom of darkness, a choice to live and walk according to the Spirit, or to live and walk in accordance to he flesh.
As free moral agents we have the prerogative to become dead to sin, and be alive to God, or liberating ourselves from the slavery of sin, and becoming slaves of God. For we have been admonished saying; “Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.’
“And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness. For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness” (Romans 6:16-20).
There is a huge difference between being a slave of God or a slave of righteousness, and being a slave of the devil, or a slave of sin. The disparity between the two is that one has laws and principles governing the conduct of the slaves, whilst the other has no guidelines, no code of conduct, each man does what seems right in his own eyes, and each one walks according to the imagination of his own evil heart.
But the irony of truth is, there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Without this human spirit no one would know the things that pertain to a man except through the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now man as a free moral agent has the prerogative to allow his human spirit to be joined with Spirit of God, and come to know the things of God, or allow his spirit to be joined with the spirit of the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience and do what seems right in his own eyes.
It is therefore no strange thing that the leaders of this world and their legal justice system, to whom Satan the dragon has given his power, his throne, and great authority are clamoring for the human rights of their citizens, human rights that are contrary to the laws of God.
The irony of truth is, there are stipulated laws which govern the lives of those who have chosen to become servants of righteousness: For thus says the Lord; “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. Nor shall you mate with any animal, to defile yourself with it. Nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.’
'Do not defile yourselves with any of these things; for by all these the nations are defiled, which I am casting out before you. For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you (for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you for whoever commits any of these abominations, the persons who commit them shall be cut off from among their people. Therefore you shall keep My ordinance, so that you do not commit any of these abominable customs which were committed before you, and that you do not defile yourselves by them: I am the Lord your God" (Leviticus 18:22-30).
Note carefully that for two men or two women to lie carnally with each other is an abomination, an abhorrence or something disgusting before the Lord; it is a defilement: And God’s people are duly warned not to defile themselves by committing such perverted acts, for it was because of these abominations that the land vomited out the nations that were living in them, for example Sodom and Gomorrah.
And please consider the dire consequences which states; "Who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them" (Romans 1:32).
Yet the leaders and rulers of our society want to compel innocent and sincere people to accept and approve the practices of these ungodly people and thus bringing upon themselves the righteous judgment of God: What a dilemma!

The act of homosexuality is so abominable, that men of ancient times who feared the Lord were willing to offer their virgin daughters to perverted men who wanted to commit such acts, instead of allowing them to commit such abominations, by which the land is defiled. Let us look at two horrific examples;

1    Righteous Lot

Lot we are told invited two angels who came to Sodom and invited them into his house, but before they could lie down to sleep, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. And they called to Lot and said to him, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally."
So Lot went out to them through the doorway, shut the door behind him, and said, "Please, my brethren, do not do so wickedly! See now, I have two daughters who have not known a man; please, let me bring them out to you, and you may do to them as you wish; only do nothing to these men, since this is the reason they have come under the shadow of my roof."
And they said, "Stand back!" Then they said, "This one came in to stay here, and he keeps acting as a judge; now we will deal worse with you than with them." So they pressed hard against the man Lot, and came near to break down the door. But the men reached out their hands and pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door. And they struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they became weary trying to find the door” (Genesis 19:4-11).
Lot offered to give his two virgin daughters in exchange to the two men who thankfully were angels to these perverted men, not because he perceived that the two men were angels, neither was it because he did not love his daughters, but because the act of homosexuality is so abominable, and defiles the land, he would rather have these corrupt, perverted men to sexually abuse and humble his daughters, than having this abominable act of homosexuality committed. Thanks to the angels who intervened and prevented such a shameful act from being committed.

2.      The old man from the mountains of Ephraim

It is stated that an old man from the mountains of Ephraim who was living in Gibeah, invited a Levite and his concubine to his house and as they were enjoying themselves, suddenly certain men of the city, perverted men, surrounded the house and beat on the door. They spoke to the master of the house, the old man, saying; "Bring out the man who came to your house, that we may know him carnally!"
But the man, the master of the house, went out to them and said to them, "No, my brethren! I beg you, do not act so wickedly! Seeing this man has come into my house, do not commit this outrage. Look, here is my virgin daughter and the man's concubine; let me bring them out now. Humble them, and do with them as you please; but to this man do not do such a vile thing!" But the men would not heed him. So the man took his concubine and brought her out to them. And they knew her and abused her all night until morning; and when the day began to break, they let her go. Then the woman came as the day was dawning, and fell down at the door of the man's house where her master was, till it was light. When her master arose in the morning, and opened the doors of the house and went out to go his way, there was his concubine, fallen at the door of the house with her hands on the threshold. And he said to her, "Get up and let us be going." But there was no answer. So the man lifted her onto the donkey; and the man got up and went to his place.
When he entered his house he took a knife, laid hold of his concubine, and divided her into twelve pieces, limb by limb, and sent her throughout all the territory of Israel. And so it was that all who saw it said, "No such deed has been done or seen from the day that the children of Israel came up from the land of Egypt until this day. Consider it, confer, and speak up!" (Judges 19:22-30)
What one has to consider, confer or be advised and speak up against is not just the dismemberment of the abused concubine and her body parts sent throughout all the territory of Israel, but all the circumstances which led to this ordeal.
God’s people cannot be tight lips on such hideous acts, they are abominable, they defile the land, and because of this the Lord says, “Therefore, I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants.” This is the main reason why the Lord destroyed the city of Sodom and Gomorrah, and turned them into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly.

The church's responsibility

1. The church must walk in the light

The church as stewards of the mysteries and manifold grace of God has the responsibility to portray the life which is synonymous to that of the kingdom of God. This world in which we live is under the control of two diametric kingdoms, one is known as the kingdom of light, and the other the kingdom of darkness.
Jesus Christ is the Ruler of the kingdom of light, whilst Satan is the ruler of the kingdom of darkness. The irony of truth is, we were all born in the kingdom of darkness and are being translated from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light only when we believe and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Therefore, we have been admonished to, "give thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:12-14).
Jesus Christ is the light who gives light to everyone who comes into the world, but it is only to as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:12-13).
Now light is synonymous to truth, and it is manifested in the life of Jesus Christ and the words He spoke. According to the apostle John, “In Him (Christ) was life, and the life was the light of men.” Jesus Himself said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” “I have come as a light into the world: that whoever believes in Me, should not abide in darkness” (John 1:4; 8:12; 9:5; 12:46).
The world’s condemnation is that, “The light who is Jesus Christ has come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God” (John 3:19-21).
Walking in the light or walking in truth is so vitally important that unless the church is walking in the light as Christ Himself is in the light there is no fellowship between believers and with the Father.
The apostle John wrote: This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you; God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin” (1 John 1:5-7).
Basically, life is a choice we all have to make, whether to remain carnally minded, be citizens of the kingdom of darkness and living in lies, or be spiritually minded, becoming citizens of the kingdom of light and living in truth.
The choice is ours.

The dilemma of vain worship

    • Vain worship is one of, if not the worse indictment that has been labeled on the Christian community. Jesus said quite emphatically; "In vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men --- the washing of pitchers and cups, and many other such things you do." He said to them; "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.” (Mark 7:7-9).
    • Jesus also said; “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." Here we see plainly what defines vain worship, it is not something nebulous, or far fetched that is difficult or impossible to verify, and therefore cannot be condemned in the affirmative, because Jesus the word of God, the Righteous Judge states plainly that vain worship is:-
    • Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men
    • Laying aside, or rejecting the commandment of God, and holding the tradition of men
    • Jews know what they worship because salvation is of the Jews
    • True worshipers worship the Father in spirit and in truth
While believers are in the process of observing the Passover season, I think it is imperative that all true believers should consider whether our worship is in sincerity and truth or is it all in vain. Remember, the only sign Jesus Christ gave to the evil and adulterous generation to prove that He is indeed the true Messiah is the sign of the prophet Jonah.
Jesus stated quite emphatically, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth" (Matthew 12:39-40).
Therefore, I beg to ask the question, if after the Sabbath (Saturday), is the first day of the week (Sunday) and it has just began to dawn (meaning it was not yet the first day, it only began to dawn towards the first day), Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb, and Christ had already risen, He was no longer in the tomb.
How can anyone calculate three days and three nights from Friday night to Saturday night, or from Thursday night to Saturday night as it is commonly taught? And by the way, if a day consist of twelve hours of light which is called day, and twelve hours of darkness called night, how can a new begin either at sunset or at midnight? And Jesus specifically said that He would spend three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, which is the only sign that He gave to this evil and adulterous generation.
The choice is yours as to whom you should believe.
    With brotherly love

True significance of not under law

True significance of not under law
Since the rationale for the law is to reveal what sin is, it manifests the righteousness of God, and it leads to Christ, obviously it is not something that is in any way insignificant. Sin we are told is not imputed when there is no law, and since it manifests the righteousness of God, it ought to be practiced because we have been duly admonished saying, “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.” And since it leads to Christ, and Christ is the end of the law for righteousness, what therefore is the real terminology for the phraseology “not under law?”

The terminology “Not under law” has been grossly misconstrued and misapplied by most professing Christians causing many sincere and innocent believers to be deceived. The truth of the matter is, inasmuch as there can be no sin if there is no law, no one can say I have no sin or I have not sinned, righteousness has to be practiced in order to be attained, and Christ is the end of the law for righteousness, but not the end of the law of righteousness, denoting that the law of God is current and applicable as it was from the beginning.
The sad thing is that, not too many people are able to make a clear distinction between Christ being the end of the law for righteousness, and not being the end of the law of righteousness. The reason why Christ is the end of the law for righteousness is two-folds:-

1.      Man`s inability to keep the whole law
For we have been instructed saying. “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.” And, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." (James 2:10; Galatians 3:10).
But the good news is that, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith” (Galatians 3 10-14).
According to the law, the wages of sin is death, but Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, and has received the consolation saying, “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin (transgress the law). And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world:”  “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 2:1-2;1 John 1:9).

2.      Justification through the works of the law
The irony of truth is, the law brings a curse to anyone who tries to be justified by keeping it: For we have been duly instructed saying; “ Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin”. Remember also that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives.
Since by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, the logical question is: “What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?” Or, “Do we then make void the law through faith?” The unequivocal answer is, “Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law” (Romans 6:15; 3:31).
The same condition applies even today, and we should all be echoing the words of the psalmist David who wrote, “Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy, and teach me Your statutes. I am Your servant; Give me understanding, that I may know Your testimonies. It is time for You to act, O LORD, For they have regarded Your law as void. Therefore I love Your commandments more than gold, yes, than fine gold!” (Psalms 119:124-127).
So then, what is the true connotation of the terminology, “not under law!” I think a practical physical illustration will be better able to address this issue because it is stated that, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”.
So let us consider for example the police department which represents the law, suppose they decide to carry out a general inspection on all vehicles and drivers using the road, is not every driver obligated to stop when they are asked to? The logical answer is yes. So the question is who then is not under the law? Is it not those whose vehicles are road worthy, the driver is wearing his/her seat belt, they can produce a valid driver’s license, the vehicle is insured, no narcotics or drugs are found, are they not those who can be classified as not under law? Why! Is it not because they have fulfilled the requirements of the law and are operating within the confines of the law? The answer is yes.
On the other hand those who fail in any of the requirements of the law are they not under law and can be fined, arrested, have their vehicle impounded, or their license suspended or revoked? The unequivocal answer is yes. So the question is why! It is simply because they were not operating within the stipulations or the confines of the law.
And so we have been duly instructed saying; “But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for man-slayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust” (1 Timothy 1:8-11).
So then, the terminology “Not under law” applies to those who are already living within the confines of the law, for having been set free from sin they became slaves of righteousness. And, if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. So let us not fall victims to the great apostasy by giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.
