Is Jesus Christ our King (part 5)

THE MOST HIGH, RULES IN THE KINGDOM OF MEN

In order to impress indelibly in the mind of every living being that, “The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He will, and sets over it the lowest of men.” He caused Nebuchadnezzar, the first king whose greatness had grown and reached to the heavens, and whose dominion had reached to the end of the earth, to be driven from among the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and he made his dwelling with the beast of the field, and was made to eat grass like oxen. His body was wet with the dew of heaven for seven years, until his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws; until he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses” (Daniel 4:17, 25, 32, 5:18-21).

Because of Israel’s continuous rejection, and disobedience of God, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon went to Jerusalem and besieged it. Now in the second year of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign he had dreams; and his spirit was troubled that his sleep left him. He gave command to call the magicians, the astrologers, the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans to tell the king his dreams. But none could tell the king his dreams. For this reason, the king was angry and very furious, and gave a command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. So the decree went out, and they began killing the wise men; and they sought Daniel and his companions, to kill them. (Daniel 2:2, 11-13).

With counsel and wisdom, Daniel went in and asked the King to give him time that he might tell the king the interpretation of the dream. So Daniel and his companions seek mercies from the God of heaven concerning this secret, so that he and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven and said, “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever. For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings, and raise up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding” (Daniel 2:21).

Both Nebuchadnezzar’s first dream of a great image whose head was of fine gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, its legs or iron and partly of clay; And Daniel’s visions of four great beast which came up from the sea, each different from the other, reveals clearly that they represented four successive kingdoms, which were to rule the earth beginning with Nebuchadnezzar who represented the head of gold, and the first beast like the lion (Daniel 2:37-38; .7:17).

Nebuchadnezzar reigned over the kingdom of Babylon or the Chaldean Empire. And the Kingdoms which followed were, the Persian Empire, followed by the Grecian Empire or the Greco-Macedonian Empire, and the fourth kingdom is the Roman Empire.

The Apostle John in the book of Revelation saw in a vision, a beast rising up out of the sea, and this beast had all the characteristics of the first three beasts which Daniel saw in his vision. The beast which he saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. And the dragon [the devil] gave him his power, his throne, and great authority (Revelation 13:2).

It is during the reign of the fourth beast [the Roman Empire], will the God of heaven established His kingdom, as alluded to by the stone that struck the image, became a great mountain [kingdom] and filled the whole earth. For, “In the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever” (Daniel 2:35,44).

Daniel was grieved in his spirit, within his body, and the visions troubled him. So he went near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told him, and made known to him the interpretation which is this. “Those great beasts, which are four, are four kings [kingdoms] which arise out of the earth: But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, even for ever and ever” (Daniel 7:17-18).

Until then Jesus said, “I have given them your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not pray that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by your truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world” (John 17:14-18).

Remember, Jesus Christ came to set us an example that we should follow His steps, therefore, just as He was not of the world, so must we and this is the way love has been perfected, in that, “We may have boldness in the day of judgment. Because as He [Christ} is, so are we in this world” (1John 4:17).

Therefore, let us heed the voice from heaven which says; “Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues” (Revelation 18:4).

The crux of the matter is; “The Lord sat enthroned at the flood, and the Lord sits as King forever. The Lord will give strength to His people. The Lord will bless His people with peace” (Psalms 29:10-11).

Meaning that, the Lord is fully aware of what is happening and totally in control of every situation, so let us not duplicate the wickedness of the children of Israel, by choosing leaders for ourselves, when the Lord our God is our King and will not share His glory with no other.
