The first integral component of true spiritual worship

  1. Delight yourself in the Lord

The first integral component of true spiritual worship is to delight oneself in the Lord. God loves a cheerful giver, and as The Father and Master He deserves our highest honor and reverence, and we ought to present to Him the best that we have. If we offer to Him the blind, the evil, the lame and the sick, we will not be favorably accepted. The only acceptable offering we can offer to God is what He has sanctified and set apart as holy. To enable us in taking delight when appearing before Him, the Lord has established a principle, which if obeyed, will ensure our joy continuously in His presence. This principle is designed to supply our needs, by which we will be able to present ourselves before Him at His appointed time and to rejoice before Him.

We are not to present ourselves before Him because of legalism, cohesion or trying to please others. For we have been duly instructed saying; “One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord, he does not observe it” (Romans 14:5-6).

So worshiping God is not something one does out of compulsion, cohesion or legalism, but from a cheerful and willing heart and expressing this delight by following this principle which states; “Sing to the LORD, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is also to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and gladness are in His place” 1Chronicles 16:23-27; Psalms 95: 1-7; Psalms 96:1-7).

And so, we have been duly admonished saying; “Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is done in truth” (Psalms 33:1-4).

Therefore, one should take delight and pleasure in presenting him/herself before God at the times and occasions which He has ordained.
