The second integral component of true spiritual worship

  1. Worship God in spirit

Worshiping God in spirit is His delight for thus says the Lord; “But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth" (John 4: 23-24).

Now, to worship God in spirit constitute the following:

a.      “You shall have no other gods before Me. " You shall not make for yourself a carved image --- any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments” (Exodus 20: 3-6; Deuteronomy 5:7-10).

b.      "Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the LORD spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female, the likeness of any animal that is on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth. And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage” (Deuteronomy 4:15-19).

  1. Worshiping God in spirit refers also to the mindset, the rationale, the objective, the purpose for presenting ourselves before Him, what is the occasion and what are we focusing our minds on when we present ourselves before Him.

For thus says the Lord; “When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, to trample My courts? Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense (prayer) is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies --- I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:12-15).

Please note carefully that, the New Moons, the Sabbaths and calling of assemblies which the Lord hates are not the ones that He ordained and gave to Moses saying; “These are the feasts of the LORD, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.” But those which have been established through the customs and traditions of men.

These festivals are recorded in the 23rd. chapter of Leviticus and to anyone who believes that these festivals are meant only for the Jews, this is what the scriptures say; “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!" And again: " Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles! Laud Him, all you peoples!" (Romans 15:10-11).

According to the word of God; “One law shall be for the native-born and for the stranger who dwells among you." And, “there is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? (Exodus 12:49; Numbers 15:16; James 4:12).
