- “Therefore
you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you
judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same
things” (Romans 2:1).
- “Who
are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or falls.
Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand” (Romans
14:4).
- ”
Do not speak evil of
one another, brethren. He, who speaks evil of a brother and judges his
brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the
law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. There is one Lawgiver, who
is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?” (James
4:11-12).
Therefore instead of judging others
this is what we are admonished and consider doing:
- For
if anyone thinks himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceives
himself. But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have
rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear
his own load” (Galatians 6:3-5).
- Examine
yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not
know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you? --- Unless indeed you are
disqualified. But I trust that you will know that we are not disqualified”
(2
Corinthians 13:5-6).
The truth of the matter is, there
is a literal sign by which we can prove to ourselves whether Jesus Christ is
living in us or not and do not need anyone to judge another, for it is stated
clearly; “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit
of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is
not His: And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the
Spirit is life because of righteousness” (Romans 8: 9-10).
And so, the admonition is, “For
if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we
are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world” (1Corinthians
11: 31-32).
In the final analysis, we must
all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the
things done in the body, according to what he/she has done, whether good or
bad. So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us
not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling
block or a cause to fall in our brother's way” (2 Corinthians 5:10;
Romans 14:12-13).
No one apart from ourselves is
better able to know what sort of vegetation that we are cultivating in God’s
field whether we are growing and cultivating the works of the flesh or growing
and cultivating the fruits of the Spirit, Now the fruits of the Spirit which we
should be cultivating in God’s field are, love, joy, peace, long-suffering,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there
is no law. So the question is are we sowing and cultivating the right seeds in God’s
field?
