Are we true witnesses of the Way?

Are we True Witnesses of the Way?

In directing this question, I simply want us who professed to be believers in Jesus Christ to have a thorough examination of ourselves and prove to ourselves whether we are true followers of “THE WAY’ for we have been duly instructed saying; “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --- unless indeed you are disqualified” (2Corinthians 12:5).

It is quite evident that believers in Jesus Christ are not experiencing the quality of life promised to them in the scriptures. Some are so naïve they bear their pains and agony with the pretext that the good, blessed, abundant life promised in scriptures is not for this present age, but for the world to come.

While others believe that they are destined to suffer the same fate and calamities in this world as unbelievers, even though Jesus Himself said. “I have come that they [His sheep - believers] may have life and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

While others promulgate a false notion of wealth and prosperity when Jesus Christ Himself warned us saying, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consists in the abundance of the things he possesses” (Luke 12:15).

The apostle Paul also instructed Timothy saying; “Withdraw yourselves from the constant friction between men of corrupt minds, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain’; But rather, ‘Godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that” (1Timothy 6:5-8).

The Apostle Paul endorsed this fact, and proved to us that the abundant life is not related to wealth/ and prosperity, for he said, “Let your conduct be without covetousness, and be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So, we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6).

Therefore, the way of life to which the believer has been called as a witness, is not one of despair, self-pity, and sorrow: neither is it that of the prosperity gospel.

Here is what the scriptures say; “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief corner stone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame” (1Peter 2:6).

The Way therefore as the name implies is absolute, definitive with no substitutes and it is being regulated by specific laws and guidelines otherwise it would be impossible to fulfill the apostle’s Paul instructions which states; “Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10).
