7. The
perpetual Commemoration of the date of Jesus’ birth
The
seventh verifying proof of the exact date of Jesus’ birth is that, the date of
Jesus’ birth The date of Jesus’ birth should be a day of perpetual
celebration for all nations because the message that was delivered by the angel
to the shepherds was. “For
behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.” And
the instructions the Lord who is the same yesterday, today and forever
gave to Moses regarding this day is; “You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD
for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your
generations. You shall celebrate it in the seventh month” (Leviticus 23:41).
The commemoration of this festival
is of such great importance that there will be a penalty for those who failed
to observe it for it is written; “And it shall be that whichever of the
families of the earth do not come up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD
of hosts, on them there will be no rain. If the family of Egypt will not come
up and enter in, they shall have no rain; they shall receive the plague with
which the LORD strikes the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of
Tabernacles.”
This shall be the punishment of
Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the
Feast of Tabernacles. In that day "HOLINESS TO THE LORD" shall be
engraved on the bells of the horses. The pots in the LORD's house shall be like
the bowls before the altar” (Zechariah 14: 17-20).
Let us again emphasize the
rationale and the main objective for observing the Feast of Tabernacles, it is
specifically; “to worship the King, the LORD of hosts.” A title which was given
to Jesus on the day of His birth. So how could such a historical day on which
the “WORD” was made flesh and dwelt among us, a day which is designated for the
joy of all the people either be unknown, or forgotten and resulting in having a
pagan festival as a substitute? A day in which humanity received its permanent
dwelling,
Even during the celebration of the
pagan festival of Christmas there is a popular song which states; “Hark the
herald angels sing; glory to the new born king.” Despite of all that people
still fail to associate the birth of Jesus Christ with the Feast of Tabernacles
which is intertwined with the worship of the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Even those who are observing the
Feast of Tabernacles and going as far as, observing the instructions given to
those who are native Israel stating; “You shall keep it as a feast to the LORD
for seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations.
You shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for
seven days. All who are native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your
generations may know that I made the children of Israel dwell in booths when I
brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God " (Leviticus
23:41-43).
They are making sure that they
dwell in temporary dwellings during the Feast of Tabernacles but fail to
associate this festival with the birth of Jesus Christ, the day which was
ordained for the joy of all peoples and to worship the King of kings and Lord
of lords. So, the question is why?
The reason for this according
to the prophet Isaiah is the
Blindness of Disobedience. For it is written; “Pause and wonder! Blind
yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; They stagger, but
not with intoxicating drink. For the LORD has poured out on you the spirit of
deep sleep and has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets; And He has covered
your heads, namely, the seers. The whole vision has become to you like the
words of a book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate,
saying, "Read this, please." And he says, "I cannot, for it is
sealed." Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying,
"Read this, please." And he says, "I am not literate."
Therefore, the Lord said: "
Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their
lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me and their fear toward Me is
taught by the commandment of men, Therefore, behold, I will again do a
marvelous work among this people, a marvelous work and a wonder; For the wisdom
of their wise men shall perish and the understanding of their prudent men shall
be hidden" (Isaiah 29: 9-14).
In closing, let us remind ourselves
of the apostle Paul’s admonition which states “Therefore, the One whom you
worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you: God, who made the world and
everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in
temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He
needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.’
“And He has made from one blood
every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined
their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they
should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him,
though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have
our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His
offspring.' Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think
that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art
and man's devising. Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now
commands all men everywhere to repent” (Acts 1: 23-30).
Please remember that; “Surely the
Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the
prophets” (Amos 3:7).
The Lord God would not punish or strikes
the nations who do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles from year to
year in the future unless He had first revealed the rationale and objective of
observing this festival to them. And since the Lord is the same yesterday,
today and forever and He ordained this festival to be observed in the past and
will be observed in the future, the question is, why is it not being observed
today by the majority of those who claimed to be believers in Jesus Christ?
